A Gathering of Curious Minds

Ethos

Creating Space for Exploration

We are a community of mission-aligned entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds and sectors, united by a shared appetite for understanding how lasting social change is achieved, and taking action.

Our team curates opportunities to learn from experts, explore evidence-led impact strategies, and share ideas. Our events range from intimate dinners to annual forums, and bring together the voices at the frontier of social impact. From charity founders and seminal intellectuals, to field researchers, unicorn CEOs, and visionary technologists.

Through our events, we intend to activate, educate, and interrogate. We go beyond simplistic solutions, aiming instead to ‘consciously complicate’, building our collective intelligence around social strategies, and adding new and diverse perspectives to the conversation.

José Neves

Founder & CEO
"Founders Pledge is a revolutionary approach to early stage philanthropy that allows founders of tech companies to “give back” at a point where they may be worth a lot on paper but very little (if anything!) in cash. Hopefully, the pledge will send a message to the global tech community that tech businesses may not be the biggest contributors to not-for-profit organisations and NGOs today, but they will be in the future and that we are materially committed to the values of corporate social responsibility."

José Neves is founder and CEO of Farfetch, a global community of over 300 fashion boutiques offering an inspirational shopping experience to fashion-forward consumers.

In creating Farfetch, José brought together his interests and experience in fashion, technology, design, wholesale and retail to create a business that gives boutiques the opportunity to compete with the leaders of fashion e-commerce. Farfetch now features more that 300 boutiques, has customers in over 180 countries and receives an average of 9 million hits monthly.

José has received numerous accolades, including The Business of Fashion’s 500 People Shaping the Fashion Industry in 2013, Ernst & Young’s 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year and Vogue’s DirectorsOf.COM Top Entrepreneur in 2011.

Michael Acton Smith

I am the co-founder and co-CEO of Calm. We are based in San Francisco and growing very rapidly. We're always on the look for extraordinary people to join the team so please feel free to reach out:

My first business was Firebox.com (online retailer of gadgets, games and gifts) that I co-founded in 1998 with Tom Boardman. We had a lot of fun scouring the world looking for new products and ideas. Invented the Shot Glass Chess Set along the way (bizarre fusion of chess and alcohol that was a surprise hit)

Launched Mind Candy in 2004 to create new types of online entertainment. First project was a puzzle-based Alternate Reality Game called Perplex City - a global treasure hunt played by tens of thousands of people around the world across many different types of media.

Mind Candy's first major hit was Moshi Monsters, an online world for kids that grew to tens of millions of registered players around the world. In 2011 the game expanded from the screen into the offline world with a wide range of new products such as toys, books, magazines, trading cards, videos games, music and a film.
